National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme (NICAS) come on board to support this 2024 grassroots, entry-level bouldering competition in Scotland.

The ClimbScotland Fun Boulder Competition (CSFBC) – now in its second year after running a successful pilot in 2023 – is excited to announce that the National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme (NICAS) has come on board to support the competition as the official sponsor.

The competition was set up as Scotland’s entry-level bouldering competition for young climbers wishing to have a go at competition climbing and saw 164 competitors (88 male/76 female) in its first year.

Nicholas Parkin, Managing Director at NICAS added: “We are delighted to work in collaboration with ClimbScotland and support this competition which provides a stepping stone to young climbers wishing to compete in a non-pressured competition environment through their local walls. We hope that young NICAS participants get involved in the competition”

Welcoming the sponsorship, Jamie Smith, Development Manager for ClimbScotland, said: “We’re delighted and very grateful to receive sponsorship and support from NICAS. ClimbScotland and NICAS have a great history of collaborating in the sector, and their sponsorship means we can offer this opportunity to young climbers, helping to reduce cost as a barrier to taking part.”

The qualifying round for ClimbScotland Fun Boulder Competition will be held between Saturday 9th June and Friday 12th July across the following participating venues:

  • Perth – Perth College Climbing Wall
  • Orkney – Pickaquoy Leisure Centre
  • Glasgow – TCA The Prop Store
